Further Award Honour for Greenstar WES

Monday 12th October 2009

Yet more honour has been heaped on plastics recycling firm Greenstar WES. The company walked away with the Best Use of PRN (Packaging Recovery Note) Funds category of the Valpak Awards 2009, one of the waste and recycling industry’s major competitions.

Greenstar WES’s win, announced at a gala event in London, preceded by a few days the recent visit by Lord Crathorne, the Lord Lieutenant for North Yorkshire, to its facility on the Wilton International industrial park near Redcar. Lord Crathorne was there to present Greenstar WES founder and managing director James Donaldson with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise (Innovation) which it won earlier this year.

The firm specialises in processing recycled plastic into added value material that can be reused and remanufactured into new products. In particular, Greenstar WES has led the world in developing the technology that produces food-grade recycled plastic that is remade into plastic milk bottles and other food containers.

There could be further good news for Greenstar WES in a few weeks. It is one of four companies shortlisted in the Recycling Packaging of the Year category of the 2009 National Recycling Awards (NRAs). The winners will be announced near the end of October.

James Donaldson said: “This has been an awesome year for Greenstar WES, and everyone who works here is thrilled, and humbled, by the honours bestowed on the company. We always knew we were world-class innovators, and it’s great to know that others think so too.”
